Peanut Butter Squares

½ c. butter
2 c. peanut butter - 1 (18 oz.) jar
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. brown sugar
2 ¾ c. powered sugar
2 T. butter
1 c. chocolate chips

Melt ½ c. butter in a large sauce pan. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, powered sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. With hands, mix well and pat mixture into ungreased 9x13 pan. Melt chocolate and 2 T. butter; stirring well until blended. Spread chocolate on top of peanut butter. Cut while warm into 1 inch squares but leave in pan. Seasonal colored decorative sprinkles can be applied while chocolate topping is still warm, if desired. Place in refrigerator for a least one hour. Remove from pan and place in air tight container. Squares can be refrigerated in container for up to 1 month.
