Potato ‘n Broccoli Supreme

3 c. hot mashed potatoes (5-6 med potatoes)
1 pkg. (3 oz.) cream cheese, softened
¼ c. milk
1 egg
2 T. margarine
salt & pepper to taste
1 (2.8 oz.) can French fried onions
2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen broccoli spears, cooked & drained
1 c. shredded American cheese

Whip together potatoes, cream cheese, milk, egg and margarine until smooth; season to taste with salt & pepper. Fold in half can of French fried onions. Spread potato mixture over bottom and up sides of a buttered 8×12 baking dish to form a shell. Bake, uncovered, in preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 mins. Arrange hot broccoli spears in potato shell; sprinkle with cheese and remaining onions. Bake uncovered, 5 mins. longer.
