Central finishes second in meet

STRASBURG -- Central finished second in the Region B cheerleading meet on Saturday. The Falcons finished with 224.5 points, while Appomattox won with 260 points.
Strasburg was third with 219.5 points and Clarke County had 193. Stonewall Jackson was ninth with 122.5 points.
Afton Jamerson, of Appomattox, was named the Cheerleader of the Year. Central's Katherine Roulston and Laura Raciborski made first-team All Region B, while Claire Barbour and Ennedi Shtanko each made second team.
Strasburg's Kara Richman and Olivia Stout each made first team, while Beth Bowers was named to the second team. Clarke County's Jenna Parke was selected to the first team and Nikki Broy made second team.
Central, Strasburg and Clarke County advanced to the Group A meet on Nov. 14 in Richmond.
"I think the girls were excited to make it to regionals and compete against good competition," Central coach Carrie Hodges said. "They worked really hard. We're really looking forward to next Saturday."
