TK's Corner: Many things to be thankful for
By Tommy Keeler Jr. - tkeeler@nvdaily.com Since it's Thanksgiving Day I decided to write about some of the things I'm most thankful for, besides the obvious ones like health, family, friends and of course Kirsten Storms (the most talented actress in the world, for those who don't know who she is). I'm thankful for the Virginia High School League. They constantly give us something to laugh about as they make one idiotic decision after another. I honestly think sometimes they decide what districts and classifications teams will play in by simply throwing darts at a map. I'm thankful for Kanye West. His interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV awards made country music look 10 times better than rap. I'm thankful for ESPN's Skip Worthless, um, I mean, Bayliss. Skip's arrogance and rants about nothing give me a reason to laugh when I wake up around noon each day. I'm thankful for the New York Yankees. They teach me that winning never gets old. I'm thankful for Andre Agassi. While some may be appalled by his new book and to find out he did drugs, I admire him for always having the courage to be himself no matter what anyone else thinks. I'm thankful that the Washington Redskins are in the NFC East. This means the Dallas Cowboys are guaranteed two wins each year. I'm thankful that Jeremy Stafford is in the forecast, which means I don't have to worry about finishing last. Most of all I'm thankful for high school sports. Through sports we learn many of life's lessons. We learn that what's really important isn't winning and losing, but giving it your all and being the best that you can be. Now here's this week's picks: Sherando at Broad Run The Warriors have had a good season, but I think the Spartans are just simply too good.
This will be a close one, but Handley wouldn't have it any other way.
This rivalry isn't what it used to be. The Hokies are simply better.
The Mountaineers and their fans would love to spoil the Panthers' season much like Pittsburgh did to them a few years ago. Sorry Chuck McGill, but it's not going to happen.
The last hurdle for Boise State in the regular season. It will be a shootout, but the Broncos will not lose on the blue turf.
I think it's obvious who will win this game.
Perhaps the toughest game to pick this week. The Saints have to lose sometime. Copyright © The Northern Virginia Daily | nvdaily.com | 152 N. Holliday St., Strasburg, Va. 22657 | (800) 296-5137 |
