Defense carries Falcons to win

Central 48, Warren County 34

FRONT ROYAL -- Central clamped down on the defensive end in the second half to pull away with a 48-34 nondistrict win over Warren County on Wednesday night. The Falcons held the Wildcats to only 12 second-half points.

Theresa Barela had 10 points to lead the Falcons (1-0). Brea Hinegardner had nine points, seven rebounds and three steals and Ashley Jernigan had nine points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists for Central. The Wildcats (0-1) were led by Brianna Caison with 20 points.
