SU's Van Sickler captures award

Shenandoah University junior Greg Van Sickler has been named the USA South Conference Pitcher of the Week in selections announced on Monday by the conference office.

Van Sickler, who was named a both a preseason All-American by

D3baseball.com and as the preseason Player of the Year by Baseball America this season, earned his first conference honor of 2010 after tossing a one-hitter in Shenandoah's 6-0 victory over Richard Stockton (N.J.) on Sunday.

Van Sickler struck out six, walked two and hit a batter as he earned his fifth straight victory for the Hornets in decisions dating back to the middle of last season.
