BEALETON -- Fourth-seeded Warren County roared back in the fourth quarter to topple top seed Fauquier 55-49 in the Evergreen District boys basketball tournament semifinals on Thursday night.
Trailing 44-38 entering the final frame, the Wildcats outscored the Falcons 17-5 over the final eight minutes to advance to Saturday's championship game against Liberty at Kettle Run High School.
Warren County (5-12), which trailed by seven points at halftime, fell behind by as many as 12 points in the third quarter before rallying for the upset.
"That was the point where I was really proud of my kids," Warren County coach Vernon Mathews said. "They would not quit. They just kept battling back."
Damien Caison kept the Wildcats within striking distance by scoring 11 of his 17 points in the first half, and Marty Haley fueled Warren's comeback by tallying 14 of his game-high 18 points in the final two quarters.
