Handley's Myers finishes second

LYNCHBURG -- Handley sophomore Britani Myers finished second in the girls 500 meters race at the Group AA indoor track meet held Saturday at Liberty University.
Myers finished in a time of 1:19.24. She also helped the Judges finish sixth in the girls 4x200 relay, along with teammates Myrina Booker, Kara Dixon and Melissa Robinson.
Sherando's Shelby Spangler finished third in the girls 500 with a time of 1:21.01. Millbrook's Tammy Cheung finished third in both the girls 1,600 (5:13.53) and also in the 3,200 (11:28.40). Sherando's Krista DeCeault was fourth in the 3,200 (11:28.61). Handley's Claire Bridgeforth finished eighth (3:13.87) in the 1,000 meters race, while teammate Caroline Crowe was eighth (4-10) in the high jump. DeCeault, Spangler, Erin Dougherty and Jennifer Ice led Sherando to a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay (10:05.44).
In the boys meet, Skyline's Thomas Madden finished fourth in the 3,200 (9:42.03) and seventh in the 1,600 (4:29.92).
Sherando finished 10th in the girls meet with 17 points, while Handley was 14th with 13 points and Millbrook finished 15th with 12. Blacksburg won the meet, and Western Albemarle finished second.
Skyline was 28th in the boys met with seven points. Christiansburg won the boys meet, followed by Blacksburg and Amherst.
