Hornets rally for conference sweep


WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for a 7-6 win over Greensboro College on Sunday in USA South Conference baseball action at Bridgeforth Stadium.

The Hornets took advantage of two errors by the Pride in the sixth to rally from a 5-4 deficit.

Jon Holcomb, Warren County graduate Jesse Henry and Scott Van Dusseldorp each had two hits to lead the Hornets (7-3, 2-2 USA South).

On Saturday the Hornets beat the Pride, 4-1. SU scored all four runs in the sixth inning on another pair of errors by the Pride.

James Wood graduate Greg VanSickler and Mike Smith each had two hits for the Hornets. VanSickler picked up the win. He allowed only six hits in eight innings of work. VanSickler struck out three and walked only one.
