OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Host Stevenson University kept its men's soccer record perfect Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 overtime victory over Shenandoah.
The Mustangs (6-0) got the game-winner in the 105th minute when John Adamo converted a Ansger Otto left-wing feed and tucked the ball just inside the post.
Shenandoah (2-4) forced the nearly extra 15 minutes of time after freshman Kevin Kupris tied it in the 60th minute with his blast from 22 yards out.
The two teams battled for the remaining 30 minutes of regulation, trading a total of seven shots (four for Stevenson, three for the Hornets) in that span.
The Mustangs kept up the pressure in the opening overtime session, taking five of the eight shots and one more in the second OT before getting the game-winner.
Stevenson also held a 3-2 advantage in corners.
Shenandoah keeper Adrian Acosta made three saves in the losing effort.
The Hornets return to action on Sunday with a 6 p.m. non-league game against Marymount.
NEW ORLEANS -- Shenandoah University maintained its No. 7 women's cross country regional ranking in the week two poll released Tuesday by the USTFCCCA.
Shenandoah, which finished first in its home meet on Sept. 1 and fifth at Salisbury on Sept. 4, is just one of three schools to stay in the same spot as the Week 1 poll.
This poll also marks the one-year anniversary of SU first entering the rankings. The Hornets have now been ranked for eight consecutive polls.
Catholic and Centre (Ky.) at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively, are the other two schools that maintained position.
Mary Washington is the only newcomer in the poll, at No. 8, while the other six schools all have new positions.
Emory (Ga.) and Rhodes (Tenn.) have swapped spots, with Emory the new regional No. 1. Washington & Lee is the biggest jumper, moving from eighth to fifth. USA South rival Christopher Newport moves up two spots, to fourth.
Shenandoah returns to action Saturday at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational.
