MANASSAS PARK -- Brandy Clem tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead visiting Strasburg to a 30-23 girls basketball victory over Bull Run District rival Manassas Park on Monday.

Katlyn Ayers added 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Rams.
Strasburg held Manassas Park to just 10 points in the second half, including one point in the fourth quarter.

Manassas Park's Erica Clayton hit three 3-pointers to finish tied for game-high honors with 13 points. Rachel Chan added nine points for the Cougars.


Wrestling


Warriors 49, Judges 24

STEPHENS CITY -- Host Sherando piled up wins in the lower weight classes to roll past Northwestern District rival Handley 49-24 in a wrestling dual match on Monday.

Sherando (19-9, 2-2 Northwestern) got victories from Jacob Guthridge (103 pounds), Kyle Vangel (112), Matt Buhl (119), Josa Maravilla (125), Dan Mullaney (130), Aaron Laboy (140), Zach Fletcher (152), George Ashton (189) and B.J. Askew (285).

Handley's winners were Jared Burns (135), Tom Delaney (145), Coby Pitcock (160), Chris Brown (171) and Sam Aguilar (215).


Saturday


Swimming

BRISTOL -- A pair of top-three finishes vaunted Central's swim team to the combined championship at Saturday's Single A State Invitational.

Central's girls team finished second with 160 points behind winner James River (200), while the Falcons took third in the boys meet with 173 to trail just Virginia High (217) and Radford (178).

In the girls meet, Clarke County was fourth (148), Strasburg sixth (121), and Stonewall Jackson 11th (47). Clarke County was fourth (165) in boys competition, Strasburg sixth (97), and Stonewall Jackson eighth (53).

For Central's girls, the 200-yard medley relay of Annie Jadot, Danielle Barr, Jessica Barr and Laura Raciborski set a school record en route to posting a winning time of 2 minutes, 9.58 seconds.

Jessica Barr added a victory in the 100 butterfly (1:11.33) and took third in the 500 freestyle (6:50.99), Danielle Barr was second in both the 200 individual medley (2:33.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.14), Annie Jadot was third in the 100 backstroke (1:19.31) and the quartet of Jessica Barr, Jadot, Raciborski and Danielle Barr set a new school mark with their third-place finish in the 400 free relay (4:22.70).

Central's boys 200 medley relay of Jacob Runion, Jonathan Neri, Daniel Molina and Jonathan Feaster also set a new school mark (2:03.11) in winning that event. Feaster added a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:09.79) and a third in the 100 breast (1:16.55).

Red Storm 53, Titans 45

WINCHESTER -- A fourth-quarter surge helped lift Front Royal Red Storm to a 53-45 victory over host Timber Ridge on Friday.

Front Royal, a home school, got a game-high 18 points from Alex Hickens in the victory. Also for the Red Storm, Dakota Smelser added 15 points.

For Timber Ridge, Steve Dean had 10 points and George McGee added nine in the loss.
