Shenandoah roundup: Hornets climb golf standings

NORFOLK -- Shenandoah University improved by 16 strokes to help itself finish seventh at the Virginia Wesleyan Golf Invitational Sunday afternoon.
After shooting a collective 348 on Day 1 of the two-day, 36-hole event, the Hornets shot 332 Sunday afternoon to help clinch a seventh-place finish in the eight-school tournament.
Senior Josh Wiegand paced SU over the par-72, 7,138-yard Bayville Golf Course with a six-over-par 78.
Junior Derek Snarr and freshman John Judy, the Day 1 medalist, both carded 84.
Sophomore David Rynecki rounded out the Shenandoah total with an 86, while freshman Zach Ramey was forced to withdraw Sunday due to injury.
The Hornets are back in action this weekend at the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga.
