Prep power girls basketball rankings 1-24

The Northern Virginia Daily sports staff collaborated to create a basketball top 10 list. Each staffer voted, with 10 points being awarded to the top ranked team, nine to the No. 2 team and so on. Numbers in parenthesis indicate where each team was last week.
Girls basketball
1. Millbrook (1) 18-0, 4-0 Northwestern -- Millbrook crushed Washington last week to extend its winning streak to 67 games. Millbrook plays at second-place Sherando on Friday.
2. Stonewall Jackson (2) 13-3, 6-3 Shenandoah -- The Generals won two games last week, including a 51-34 victory over Buffalo Gap. Stonewall Jackson hosts Luray on Friday in another key district matchup.
3. Sherando (3) 12-5, 4-1 Northwestern -- Sherando had an impressive win over Handley, but then lost to a strong Martinsburg (W.Va.) squad last week. The Warriors will need to be on top of their game on Friday when they host Millbrook.
4. Handley (4) 10-5, 1-3 Northwestern -- The Judges played only once last week, falling to Sherando, 62-51. They have a busy week ahead, including playing at James Wood and hosting Skyline.
5. Central (7) 9-9, 7-3 Bull Run -- The Falcons extended their winning streak to five games with wins last week over Clarke County and Madison County and followed that up with a 51-50 upset over George Mason on Tuesday. Central is all alone in third place with a showdown with second-place William Monroe looming next week.
6. Skyline (5) 10-5, 0-3 Northwestern -- Skyline is reeling after losing senior Oshene Kelly to injury. The Hawks lost to James Wood, 52-35, but have a chance to right the ship this week with games against Fauquier and Handley.
7. James Wood (6) 8-7, 1-3 Northwestern -- The Colonels found their first district win of the season, by topping Skyline last week. James Wood has a busy schedule, with games against Handley and Fauquier at the end of the week.
8. Clarke County (8) 5-12, 4-5 Bull Run -- Clarke County lost to Central and George Mason last week, but bounced back with a win over Warren County on Monday. The Eagles have a key game with second-place William Monroe on Thursday.
9. Strasburg (9) 7-10, 3-6 Bull Run -- The Rams lost to William Monroe last week, but responded with a 52-38 win over Page County on Saturday. It was the most points the Rams have scored in a game all season.
10. Warren County (10) 6-8, 3-1 Evergreen -- Warren County beat Fauquier and Brentsville last week, and are in sole possession of second place in the district. The Wildcats started this week off with a 34-31 loss to Clarke County on Monday.
