Prep roundup: Green leads Pioneers past Warriors

WINCHESTER -- Courtni Green scored 35 points to lead Millbrook to an 83-43 win over Sherando in Northwestern District girls basketball action Tuesday night.
Green hit five 3-pointers in the victory. Alisha Mobley had 22 points and Ky Rooks and Sara Mead had 10 each for the Pioneers (14-0, 2-0 Northwestern). Jessica Hakel had 29 points for the Warriors, while Morgan Sirbaugh added 12.
Central 68, Rappahannock County 13
WASHINGTON, Va. -- The Falcons outscored the Panthers 18-2 in the first period en route to a Bull Run District victory.
Katelyn Poston had 23 points, five assists and two steals, and Brenna Cook had 17 points, 10 rebounds and two steals to lead the Falcons (5-9, 3-3 Bull Run). Rebecca Sigler had nine points and nine rebounds for Central.
"We started playing better as a team in the second half," Central coach Stephanie Cooper said. "We played well as a team. It was a good, solid win for us."
Stuarts Draft 50, Stonewall Jackson 38
QUICKSBURG -- The Cougars outscored the Generals by six in the third period and pulled away for a Shenandoah District win over the Generals.
Stuarts Draft led 22-21 at the half, but then held the Generals to only seven points in the third period. Keyena Phelps led the Generals (10-3, 4-3 Shenandoah) with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Ashlie Clar had 10 points for the Generals.
James Wood 60, Fauquier 35
WARRENTON -- Whitney Dick and Brooke Nesselrodt combined to hit six 3-pointers to lead the Colonels past the Falcons.
Dick had 16 points, while Nesselrodt had 15 to lead the Colonels (7-5, 0-1 Northwestern). Danielle Rizarri had nine points and seven assists for James Wood.

Central 83, Rappahannock County 29
WASHINGTON, Va. -- Travis Cooper had 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Falcons to a convincing Bull Run District win over the Panthers.
The Falcons (4-10, 2-4 Bull Run) jumped out to a 27-8 lead after the first period. Kolton Poston had nine points and nine rebounds for Central.
"We're getting better," Central coach Mickey Clinedinst said. "We're starting to play as a group much better. I think the kids are understanding their roles. I'm really proud of the team."

Millbrook 52, James Wood 30
WINCHESTER -- Five Millbrook wrestlers had pins to help lead the Pioneers past the Colonels.
Warren Ramirez (126), Luke Anderson (132), Nick Kilmer (145), Patrick Jessen (152) and Jake Crawford (160) each won by pin for the Pioneers. Dylan Wisman (138) won by major decision for Millbrook. Jimmy Woznak (106) won by pin for the Colonels.
