BERRYVILLE -- Clarke County used a strong second quarter to take control of its game with Madison County, and pull out a 41-32 Bull Run District girls basketball win Friday night.
The Eagles outscored the Mountaineers 14-2 in the second quarter to take a 21-14 halftime lead. Freshman Sydney Chrane had 14 points, nine rebounds, three steals and three blocks for the Eagles (4-10, 4-3 Bull Run). Brittany Teasley had eight points, three steals and two assists for Clarke County. Chandler Gentry had 13 points to lead Madison County.
Stonewall Jackson 54, Wilson Memorial 50
FISHERSVILLE -- The Generals overcame a slow start on their way to a Shenandoah District victory over the Green Hornets.
Wilson Memorial led 10-7 after the first quarter, and 21-20 at the half. Stonewall Jackson scored 17 points in the third quarter to take a 37-34 lead into the final eight minutes.
Ashlie Clar had 26 points, five assists and four steals for the Generals (11-3, 5-3 Shenandoah). Cassie Conley had 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and Keyana Phelps had seven points and 12 rebounds for Stonewall Jackson. Molly Huss led the Green Hornets (6-7, 2-5 Shenandoah) with 14 points.
Handley 73, Kettle Run 37
NOKESVILLE -- The Judges outscored the Cougars 19-3 in the second quarter en route to a 73-37 non-district victory.
Darion Robinson had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Tre Brown had three points, seven steals and six assists for the Judges (9-3, 1-1 Northwestern). Robbie Lawler had 13 points and Jacob Rudolph added 11 for Handley.
