WINCHESTER -- Senior guard Courtni Green poured in a career-high 40 points as visiting Millbrook got off to its Northwestern District slate in impressive fashion with a 114-48 victory over Handley in girls basketball action Friday night.
Green also had 10 steals, seven assists and six rebounds for Millbrook.
Alisha Mobley tagged on 25 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the unbeaten Pioneers, who exploded for 37 points in the first quarter alone against Handley (7-2, 0-1 Northwestern).
Danielle Banks and Lisa Merriman added 12 points apiece for Millbrook, while Sara Mead had eight points, seven steals and five assists.
Sadie Thomas had 17 points to lead the Judges. Kirsten Ward added 12 points for Handley, which trailed 63-26 at halftime.
Sherando 100, James Wood 68
STEPHENS CITY -- The Warriors had three players score over 20 points en route to a comfortable win over the Colonels in Northwestern District action.
Freshman Jessica Hakel scored 27 points, and had five assists, six steals and four rebounds to lead the Warriors (9-3, 1-0 Northwestern). Morgan Sirbaugh had 25 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and Courtney Reid had 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals for Sherando. Allison Boespflug had 10 points, seven rebounds, six steals and two assists for the Warriors.
Clarke County 55, Manassas Park 31
MANASSAS PARK -- Anna Blue Catlett and Sydney Chrane tallied 16 points apiece to lead visiting Clarke County to a 55-31 victory over Bull Run District rival Manassas Park on Friday night.
Chrane finished an impressive double-double with 19 rebounds, along with a pair of steals for the Eagles. Catlett chipped in six steals.
Also for Clarke County (2-9, 2-4 Bull Run) Brittany Teasley finished with nine points and seven steals.
Rachel Chan led Manassas Park with 13 points.
Madison County 34, Strasburg 25
STRASBURG -- Neither team cracked double digits in scoring during any of the four quarters Friday night, but Madison County pulled out a 34-25 victory over host Strasburg in Bull Run District action.
Chandler Gentry led the Mountaineers with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
For Strasburg (5-7, 2-3 Bull Run), Katelyn Ayers had nine points along with five steals and four assists.
William Monroe 63, Central 50
STANARDSVILLE -- Host William Monroe used a productive start to stymie Central for a 63-50 victory in Bull Run District action Friday night.
The Dragons outscored the Falcons 20-8 in the first quarter to take command early.
Katelyn Poston scored a team-high 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and had three assists for Central (4-9, 2-3 Bull Run). Brenna Cook added 18 points and six rebounds for the Falcons.
Alexa Smith had 20 points to lead the Dragons, who also got 17 points from Alex Cave and 15 from Brianna Allen in the win.
Page County 76, Stonewall Jackson 38
SHENANDOAH -- Host Page County turned back Stonewall Jackson 76-38 in Shenandoah District action on Friday.
Alexander Collins had a team-high 12 points for Stonewall Jackson (0-11, 0-6 Shenandoah). Hunter Smootz added 11 for the Generals.
Tim Brown had 19 points and Austin Painter added 11 to lead Page County (9-3, 4-1 Shenandoah).
