WINCHESTER -- The Shenandoah University baseball staff will be conducting a coaching clinic for all interested youth and high school coaches on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Head baseball coach Kevin Anderson, along with assistants Bruce Cameron, David Jenkins, Patrick Wingfield and Keith Fritz, will host the free clinic from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Aikens Athletic Center on the Shenandoah University campus.
Anderson, the 2009 and 2010 ABCA South Region Coach of the Year and 2011 USA South Conference Coach of the Year, is hosting the clinic not just for youth and high school baseball coaches, but any parent wishing to give their child better instruction in America's national pastime.
Anderson's Hornets are the pre-season No. 21 team in the nation, according to the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll released earlier this week. SU has been ranked in every D3baseball.com poll since March 2009 and spent a month as the No. 1 team in the country last spring.
Clinic topics include coaching philosophy and prep as well as practice organization. The clinic also includes individual position breakouts and demonstrations.
"This is our second year of doing this," Anderson said. "I thought it went very well last season and wanted to continue with it. We are always learning as coaches and this is going to be a great venue to exchange ideas."
