The Northern Virginia Daily sports staff collaborated to create a top 10 girls basketball list. Each staff member voted, with 10 points being awarded to the top-ranked team, nine to the No. 2 team and so on.
1. Millbrook (1) 22-0, 8-0 Northwestern -- The Pioneers continue to roll on. Their winning streak is now at 72. They will be the top seed in the Northwestern District tournament, which starts Friday at Skyline.
2. Stonewall Jackson (2) 15-5, 8-5 Shenandoah -- The Generals suffered a tough loss to Stuarts Draft last week, but are still holding onto the third spot in the district. The Generals will host a Shenandoah District tournament quarterfinal game on Friday.
3. Sherando (3) 14-6, 6-2 Northwestern -- The Warriors will be the No. 2 seed in the Northwestern District tournament and will play Handley in the semifinals. Sherando finishes off its regular season today with a home game against defending Group AA, Division 4 state champion Liberty.
4. Central (5) 12-10, 10-4 Bull Run -- Central continued its winning ways with a victory over Rappahannock County last week, and a win Monday over Strasburg. The Falcons, who have won eight of their last nine games, will play the Rams again on Thursday in the Bull Run District quarterfinals.
5. Handley (4) 12-7, 3-4 Northwestern -- The Judges had a rough time last week, falling to both Kettle Run and Sherando. The Judges will need to rebound quickly in the Northwestern District tournament as they play Sherando in the semifinals.
6. Skyline (6) 12-8, 1-6 Northwestern -- The Hawks finally got their first Northwestern District win of the season, with an 82-50 pounding of James Wood last week. Skyline will play James Wood again Friday in the play-in game of the Northwestern District tournament.
7. Clarke County (8) 9-13, 8-6 Bull Run -- The Eagles finished the season strong, winning five of their last six games. Clarke County beat Madison County on Monday, and will play the Mountaineers again Thursday in the Bull Run District quarterfinals.
8. Strasburg (9) 9-13, 5-9 Bull Run -- Despite losing Monday night to Central, the Rams have reason to be optimistic when the two teams meet again Thursday in the district tournament. Strasburg led by two points at halftime, and the game was tied heading into the final eight minutes of the 47-38 loss.
9. James Wood (7) 9-11, 1-6 Northwestern --James Wood had a very tough week. James Wood assistant coach Tom Pollack died of cancer on Thursday, and the team lost three games. The Colonels have a chance to turn things around as they begin play in the Northwestern District tournament.
10. Warren County (10) 9-11, 5-2 Evergreen -- Warren County will be the No. 2 seed for next week's Evergreen District tournament. The Wildcats have won five of their last nine games.

After last night's win over James Wood, Handley's record is ACTUALLY 14-6, with losses coming to Millbrook, Sherando and Woodgrove. They have lost to all three teams twice. Handley never lost Kettle Run. The paragraph above is an incorrect statement
