All-Area Boys Swim Team

Swimmer of the Year: Thomas Northrup, Millbrook

Coach of the Year: Eileen Span, Millbrook


• Tanner Blankenship, R-MA -- A junior, Blankenship won the Delaney Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Meet honor, placed 13th in 200-yard individual medley and 18th in 100 butterfly at VISAA state meet, posted area's top time in 200 IM (2:06.74) and ranked second in 100 fly.

• Ben Marshall, Clarke County -- A senior, Marshall finished 23rd in the 50 free and 35th in the 100 free at the Group AA/A state meet, posted the area's top time in the 50 free (22.95) and ranked third among area swimmers in the 100 free.

• Thomas Northrup, Millbrook -- A senior, Northrup finished 13th in the 100 butterfly and 23rd in the 100 breaststroke at the Group AA/A state meet. Northrup won Northwestern District titles in the 200 individual medley and 100 fly. He posted the area's top time in the 100 fly (55.65) and ranked second in the 200 IM, 500 free and 100 breaststroke.

• Michael Span, Millbrook -- A sophomore, Span finished 15th in the 100 backstroke and 27th in the 50 freestyle at the Group AA/A state meet. Span won Northwestern District titles in the 200 freestyle and 100 back. He ranked among the area's top five in seven individual events, posting second-best times in the 200 free, 50 free and 100 back.

• Taylor Watts, Handley -- A junior, Watts finished 19th in the 100 freestyle and 31st in the 50 free at the Group AA/A state meet. Watts won Northwestern District titles in the 100 free and 50 free. He posted the area's top times in the 200 free (1:57.76) and 100 free (50.05).
