WASHINGTON, Va. -- Strasburg backed starting pitcher Mark Smoot with 16 hits as the Rams rolled past Rappahannock County, 19-0, in five innings in Bull Run District baseball action on Tuesday night.

Smoot pitched all five innings for the win, allowing only one hit while striking out 10 batters.
Todd Dean was 3 for 3 and scored three runs to lead Strasburg (4-3, 2-1 Bull Run). Aaron Doman was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and scored two runs, and Tyler Doman 2 was 3 and scored three runs in the win.

Madison County 6, Central 5

MADISON -- Host Madison County held off Central for a 6-5 Bull Run District baseball victory on Tuesday.

The Falcons plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull within one, but the Mountaineers held on from there for the win.

Sean Semones was 2 for 3 with three stolen bases and Tyler Pattie went 2 for 3 to lead Central (5-4, 0-3 Bull Run).

Softball

Strasburg 9, Rappahannock County 2

WASHINGTON, Va. -- Dani Swafford had two triples to help lead the Rams to a Bull Run District victory over the Panthers.

Jordan Kump had eight strikeouts for the Rams (4-5, 2-0 Bull Run). Kump allowed only six hits in picking up the win.

Clarke County 5, William Monroe 0

STANARDSVILLE -- Sarah Herndon fired a one-hitter to lead Clarke County to a 5-0 win over William Monroe on Tuesday.

Herndon struck out 14 batters in the win.

Lexi Call was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Herndon added a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI for Clarke County (7-2, 3-0 Bull Run).

Girls soccer

Rappahannock County 5, Strasburg 2

WASHINGTON, Va. -- Taylor Hill had two goals, but the Rams still came up short in a loss to the Panthers in Bull Run District action.

Wendy Diaz-Sosa had two assists for the Rams (2-3, 1-2 Bull Run). The Panthers outshot the Rams, 29-10.

Clarke County 7, William Monroe 0

BERRYVILLE -- Aubrey Fletcher tallied four goals and added an assist as host Clarke County romped to a 7-0 win over William Monroe on Tuesday.

Courtney Butterfass added two goals and two assists for the Eagles.

Also for Clarke County (5-0, 3-0 Bull Run) Morgan Fletcher had a goal, Caroline George notched two assists and Sara Lettie added an assist in the win.

The Eagles outshot the Dragons, 39-7. Clarke County goalkeeper Jessie Ambrosio finished with six saves.

Boys soccer

Clarke County 4, William Monroe 0

STANARDSVILLE -- Davey Hardesty scored two goals within the span of a minute to spark Clarke County to a 5-0 victory over William Monroe on Tuesday.

Connor Shendow added a goal and two assists, Patrick Walraven had an unassisted goal and John Artaza chipped in with an assist for Clarke County (5-0, 3-0 Bull Run).

Goalkeeper Alex Sefton totaled six saves for the Eagles.
