Prep roundup: Plunkett pitches Falcons to win

BERRYVILLE -- Central's John Plunkett delivered a complete game pitching performance as the visiting Falcons knocked off Bull Run District rival Clarke County 6-2 in baseball action Friday.

Plunkett allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks. He struck out three.
Central (8-7, 2-7 Bull Run) was led by Eric Semones' 2 for 3 day, which included a double and an RBI. Plunkett added a 2 for 4 effort, and Cody Sager also went 2 for 4 for the Falcons.

Strasburg 7, Manassas Park 0

MANASSAS PARK -- Tyler Hott threw a complete game four-hitter to lead the Rams past the Cougars in Bull Run District action Friday.

Hott struck out eight, while walking none in picking up the win. The Rams managed only three hits in the win, but took advantage of five errors, seven walks and three hit batsmen.

Tyler Doman went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, and Collin Cook was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Rams (9-6, 6-3 Bull Run). Ryan Murphy went 1-for-3 with a run scored for Strasburg.

Boys soccer

Stonewall Jackson 4, Buffalo Gap 0

SWOOPE -- Roberto Cardoso scored two goals to lead the Generals to a Shenandoah District win over the Bison.

David Dodson had a goal and an assist, and Jason Albert had a goal for the Generals (11-1, 10-0 Shenandoah). Ed Juarez had an assist for the Generals.

Girls soccer

Warren County 4, Skyline 1

FRONT ROYAL -- Warren County's Kelsea Potts and Anne Skube tallied a goal and an assist apiece as the Wildcats topped cross-town rival Skyline 4-1 on Friday.

Tori Graham got the scoring started for the Wildcats in the seventh minute off Skube's assist. Warren County's Elise deVenoge made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute with a penalty kick.

Skube tallied her goal in the 41th minute off a Potts assist, and Potts scored four minutes later off a Becca Fritts assist.

Skyline's Ally Callihan broke up the shutout with a goal in the final two minutes.

Warren County outshot the Hawks, 14-9.

Wildcats goalkeeper Haley Mills finished with five saves.
