Sims lifts Hawks past Tigers

FRONT ROYAL -- Skyline freshman Jacob Sims hit a three-run homer to lift the Hawks to a 7-5 non-district baseball victory over Brentsville on Thursday.
Chaz Rutherford had a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Barry Smallwood went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Hawks (5-7, 3-3 Northwestern).
Millbrook 10, Washington 0, 5 innings
WINCHESTER -- Lane Spinks threw a two-hitter to lead the Pioneers past the Patriots in non-district action.
Ethan Mathews went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Matt Fazenbaker was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Pioneers (10-3, 4-2 Northwestern). Jacob Jaye went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Millbrook.
Sherando 14, Handley 2, 5 innings
WINCHESTER -- Visiting Sherando pounded out 12 hits against host Handley, which had to shift Thursday's game to Bodie Grim Field due to field conditions at Bridgeforth Field.
Tre Porter connected on a two-run home run in the first inning and later and an RBI triple for the Warriors to finish 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
Jacob Carney was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and John Bentley went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Sherando (11-2, 7-1 Northwestern).
Zachary Wagner pitched four innings to earn the win, improving his record to 3-0 this season.
