Hornets move up in polls

Daily Staff Reports - sports@nvdaily.com

The Shenandoah University baseball team has improved by a net one spot in two ranking polls released Tuesday morning.

The Hornets, 29-11 on the year, are now the No. 20 team in the week 11 NCBWA/D3baseball.com Top 25 and No. 19 team in the American Baseball Coaches Association Top 30 polls.

SU was 22nd last week according to D3baseball.com and 18th in the ABCA.

Shenandoah has 142 points in the D3baseball.com poll to come in just behind Aurora (Ill.).

The Hornets and Spartans switch places according to the ABCA, with SU one point ahead of Aurora in the 19th spot.

Marietta (Ohio), St. Thomas (Minn.) and Keystone (Pa.) remain unchanged in the top three spots in both polls.

Shenandoah is now waiting on the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field this coming Monday. Coach Kevin Anderson's team is hoping for a Pool C bid in order to make a fourth straight appearance in the championship.
