Prep roundup: James Wood tops Handley in boys soccer

James Wood advanced to the Northwestern District boys soccer tournament final with a thrilling 3-2 win over Handley on Saturday at Handley. The Colonels won the game in penalty kicks (5-4). James Wood plays Millbrook on Tuesday at Handley at 5 p.m. in the final. Millbrook beat Sherando, 2-1, in the other semifinal Saturday.

Mel Savarese and Chandler DeHaven scored goals for the Colonels in regulation on assists by Spencer Marfing and Bryan Gomez. In penalty kicks, Logan Yost made two, while DeHaven, Tommy Houser and Jon Henriques each made one. Joe Kysela was in goal for the Colonels.
