Tyler Hott threw a complete-game five-hitter as visiting Strasburg defeated Central, 4-1, in Bull Run District action Wednesday.
Hott struck out eight in picking up the win for the Rams (14-6, 11-3 Bull Run). Todd Dean went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Sean Semones went 2-for-4 with two steals to lead the Falcons (8-12, 3-11 Bull Run). Ryan Rodriguez went 2-for-3 and Anthony Helsley went 1-for-3 for Central.
James Wood 10, Handley 5
The Colonels pounded out 15 hits in a Northwestern District victory over the Judges.
Kyle Hevner went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Russell Repasky went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Colonels (11-9, 6-6 Northwestern). Andy Kennedy went 2-for-4 with an RBI for James Wood.
Softball
Handley 6, James Wood 5
Host Handley rallied for a 6-5 victory over Northwestern District rival James Wood in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Judges plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, a comeback helped by a pair of James Wood errors. The loss dropped the Colonels to the No. 3 seed in the district tournament.
James Wood (7-13, 6-6 Northwestern) got a 3-for-4 effort from Charlotte Viands, who also scored two runs and drove in another. Whitney Dick was 2 for 3 with a run scored for the Colonels.
Girls soccer
Liberty 3, Warren County 0
The homestanding Wildcats struggled to get their offense going in a Evergreen District loss to the Eagles.
Haley Mills had saves in goal for the Wildcats (4-9-1, 0-6-1 Evergreen). Liberty outshot Warren County 17-8.
