New Market wins second straight game

Left-hander Bug Cox scattered four hits over 7-plus innings and struck out seven to lead New Market to a 3-2 win at Harrisonburg. Cox evened his record to 1-1 while yielding two runs and two walks. Andrew Barbarino earned his first save with a scoreless ninth.
Shortstop Matt Ford (2-for-5) snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI double in the top of the seventh. Second baseman Matt Dickason (3-for-5) followed with a looping single to center that drove in what proved to be the winning run. Dickason finished with two RBI, tying the score at 1-1 with a groundout in the top of the third.
Eric Mason had his fourth straight hit that went for a double -- having three on Thursday -- to drive in a run. David Perkins sac fly in the eighth accounted for the final run of the game.
Strasburg 14, Woodstock 2
Visiting Strasburg put up a 10-spot in the fourth on its way to a 14-2 victory over Woodstock.
The Express had 15 hits in the game, including at least one by all nine starters and three from leadoff man Josh Gardiner.
Ryan Welling had a game-high three RBI.
Michael Vinson had two hits for the 'Bandits.
