FOREST -- Shenandoah University had two track & field student-athletes named to the ODAC/StellarOne Bank All-Sportsmanship teams in selections announced recently by the league.
Sophomore David Johnson and freshman Kayla Gims were named to the Sportsmanship teams for men's and women's outdoor track & field, respectively.
Johnson and Gims are the first two outdoor track & field athletes at Shenandoah to earn this honor. Both SU track & field programs recently completed their first seasons of ODAC competition.
The duo is part of a group of 89 student-athletes honored by the ODAC in 10 spring sports: baseball, equestrian, golf, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field.
Shenandoah joins the ODAC full-time on July 1 after 20 years in the Dixie/USA South Conference. Next year, SU will have nine representatives on the spring ODAC/Stellar One All-Sportsmanship teams.
"David and Kayla are excellent examples of student-athletes," head coach Andy Marrocco said. "They work hard and lead by example. I am very proud that they are our first representatives to the All-Sportsmanship teams."
