Shenandoah University Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Pryor announced Thursday a class of 15 newcomers he is adding into his program this fall.
Pryor and lead assistant Allen Corbin recruited these 15 student-athletes to add to a group of six returnees from the 2011-12 squad.
The Hornets won five games and advanced to the USA South Tournament semi-finals in 2011-12, the first season under Pryor's direction.
Shenandoah joins the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this fall after 20 years in the Dixie/USA South.
Nine of the 15 players are guards with five forwards and one center rounding out the class.
The center, 6'8" Terry Wood, is a local product from Sherando H.S. in Stephens City.
Wood is a three-time All-Area selection who left Sherando has the leading rebounder in school history. He also is No. 1 in blocked shots and second all-time in scoring.
Kyle Murph, a 6'2" guard from Handley, gives Pryor a second local student-athlete coming into the program.
"I can't wait to get started with these guys," Pryor said. "The ODAC is so strong top to bottom and our players are excited about the opportunity to compete in this league.
"If we can compete in the ODAC, we have a chance to compete on the national level."
SU opens the 2012-13 season by hosting its own Tip-Off Tournament. The Hornets take on Patrick Henry in the opener while Goucher takes on Centenary (La.) on the opposite side of the bracket.
