Shenandoah University head men's and women's cross country/track & field coach Andy Marrocco announced the recruiting classes for his six programs Monday morning.
Marrocco, who was named Coach of the Year in the USA South Conference five times in the past three years (three in women's cross country, two in men's cross country), welcomes 23 men and women into his cross country and track programs.
All 23 are slated to participate in indoor and outdoor track, while four men and four women will also run cross country in the fall.
The 23 student-athletes represent six states: Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia. Virginia leads the group with 12 of the 23, including 9 of the 13 men.
There are seven disciplines -- distance, middle distance, hurdles, jumps and throws -- represented as well with nine of the 22 running either distance or middle distance.
"We had a great year with all six teams last year," Marrocco said. "These student-athletes give us the depth we need to continue our climb to the top of the ODAC."
The cross country season begins with the Salisbury Invitational on Sept. 1 with indoor track opening in mid-December and outdoor track the first weekend in March.
Among the area signees are Warren County's Gabriella Turner in track and James Wood's Cody Wright for cross country and track,
