Shenandoah University is the pre-season No. 6 pick of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer coaches in poll results released Tuesday morning by the league office.
Shenandoah, which earned its first ever NCAA Division III tournament berth last season after winning the USA South Conference title, earned 87 points in the poll to come in sixth of 13 teams.
Three of the teams selected ahead of coach Liz Pike's squad, Washington and Lee, Roanoke and Bridgewater, fell to SU last season.
The Generals, Maroons and Eagles are the Nos. 3-5 selections, respectively.
Lynchburg, one of four teams in the poll to have played in the NCAA tournament last season, is the pre-season favorite. The Hornets had 144 points and 12 of the 13 first-place votes in the poll.
Pre-season No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan earned the remaining first-place vote.
Shenandoah opens the its season Friday at the Kean (N.J.) tournament.

Shenandoah, under second-year coach Corbin Sutton, was 2-12-2 overall in its last season in the USA South.
The Hornets join the ODAC this fall and had 17 points in their inaugural poll to come in just ahead of Emory and Henry.
Randolph, the defending league champion, had 115 points in the poll to edge Roanoke for the top spot. The WildCats had seven of the 12 first-place votes, with the Maroons grabbing the remaining five.
Shenandoah opens its 2012 season on Aug. 31 at Washington College.
