HARRISONBURG -- Dae'Quan Scott ran for 107 yards and had five receptions for 101 yards, all in the first half, to lead James Madison University past Alcorn State, 42-3, Saturday night in non-conference football action.
Scott did not play in the second half, after suffering an injury late in the second quarter.
The Dukes took command of the game early, building a 28-0 halftime lead. They used a quick-strike offense to score. The Dukes' first three touchdown drives were all three plays or less.
Scott had touchdown runs of 1 and 67 yards, and a 10-yard pass reception from quarterback Justin Thorpe.
The Dukes finished with 416 yards of offense, including 226 yards on the ground. JMU held Alcorn State to only 250 total yards.
Thorpe finished the game with 140 yards on 14 of 18 passing and two touchdowns.
Sherando graduate and JMU tight end Brian Barlow had three receptions for 26 yards.
Handley graduate Jeremiah Wilson, who also started at cornerback, returned the opening kickoff 37 yards for the Dukes.
