Host Catholic University of America made a pair of first half goals hold up in a 4-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over Shenandoah on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cardinals (1-1) scored in the 15th and 18th minutes to take a lead they would not relinquish over SU (1-2).
Freshman Emilio Altamirano answered for the Hornets in the 20th minute with an unassisted goal, but Shenandoah was unable to bring the game back to level.
With slightly more than nine minutes to play, Nick Civetti iced it for Catholic on an unassisted tally of his own.
Catholic scored one more goal, from Ben Fleri to Ian Smith, in the 83rd minute to close the book on the day's scoring.
The Cards outshot SU 19-4, including 7-1 in shots on goal.
James Dutcher had three saves for the Hornets.
Shenandoah travels to Virginia Wesleyan this weekend to take on Christopher Newport and Marymount in a pair of non-conference contests.
