SU roundup: Hornets in 10th at Invitational

FARMVILLE -- Shenandoah University posted a collective 356 Monday afternoon to find itself in 10th place after day one of the Hampden-Sydney Golf Invitational.
Playing at the par-72, 7,124-yard The Manor course, SU finds itself nine strokes behind ninth place Apprentice School in the two-day, 10-team event.
Ryan Parker paced the Hornets with a 13-over-par 85, with Greg Corder and David Rynecki both posting 89.
Seth Crean rounded out the qualifying scores with a 93, while John Freed had a 96 that did not count toward the team total.
Host Hampden-Sydney leads the event by eight strokes over Ferrum after carding a collective 304.
Christian Rivera, playing as an individual out of Division I Longwood, had an even par-72 to lead the 55-man field.
The tournament concludes Tuesday.
