SU roundup: DeLuca earns conference honors

The Shenandoah University field hockey team has earned its second straight ODAC Player of the Week honor in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
This week, it is senior Sarah DeLuca earning the award after scoring a total of seven goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Hornets.
Against Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday, DeLuca set a new program record with five goals and one assist in a 13-0 victory over the Gators.
She came back Saturday afternoon to score both goals as SU topped Stevenson 2-0.
DeLuca currently leads the 5-2 Hornets with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points.
DeLuca's award comes one week after freshman Alexandra Darrow was honored.
Shenandoah hosts York (Pa.) in a non-conference contest Tuesday night at 7.
Shenandoah University shot a collective 321 Monday afternoon to conclude its participation at the Tom Kinder Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Bridgewater College.
Shenandoah finished 15th in the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a total of 632 over the par-72, 6500-yard Lakeview Golf Course layout.
SU downed ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan by 12 strokes but finished two shots back of former USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan.
Milligan (Tenn.) won the tourney by four shots over host Bridgewater with a 289-290--579.
Freshman and Sherando graduate Cory Hammons had a 71-82--153 to pace the Hornets while John Judy earned day two medalist honors for the squad with a three-over-par 75.
Judy finished tied for 44th and Hammons tied for 33rd.
The squad is back in action one week from today at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational.
