Host North Carolina Wilmington scored twice in the final 14 minutes to pull away to a 3-1 victory over visiting James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Thursday evening.
UNCW upped its overall record to 9-6-1 and its CAA record to 4-3. JMU's record now stands at 5-10-0 overall and 3-4-0 in league play.
The Seahawks led 1-0 at halftime after Lindsay Henry scored on a free kick from 30 yards that deflected off a group of players and into the net in the 24th minute.
But in the early minutes of the second half Dukes sophomore Katie Hyland slipped a shot into the net from 10 yards out, tying the game at 1-1 just 4:06 into the half.
A Henry free kick set up the game-winning goal, scored by Stephanie Rose on a header with 13:17 left on the clock.
Rose added an insurance goal with 3:05 remaining in the game, taking a pass from Maddie McCormick and scoring on a breakaway.
