Prep roundup: Post's passing helps Wildcats stay unbeaten

Daily Staff Reports - sports@nvdaily.com

Warren County stayed unbeaten with a dominating 41-3 football victory over Evergreen District rival Brentsville on Friday in Nokesville.

Wildcats senior quarterback Tyler Post connected on three touchdown passes. Matt Nicholson had two touchdown catches, and Chris Larsen added the other for the Wildcats.

"We did what we needed to do," Wildcats coach Tony Tallent said. "We took care of business. Brentsville played really hard -- it was their Homecoming night, and coach [Tom] O'Neill has done a good job coaching them. But it's a young program, and we were able to execute."

Timmy Green added a 40-yard touchdown run, Jacob Hill tallied a 55-yard interception return for another score and Wayne Starks' 20-yard touchdown run completed the scoring for Warren County (8-0, 3-0 Evergreen).

Strasburg 35, Madison County 19

Strasburg remained unbeaten and set-up a potential huge showdown with Central in two weeks, as the Rams knocked off the Mountaineers on Friday night.

Strasburg running back Rakwon White had 202 yards on 24 carries to lead the way. White scored from 22, 70 and 19 yards out to give Strasburg a 21-19 lead at the half. He then added a 6-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Rams some breathing room.

Strasburg quarterback Troy Gordon was 7 for 12 passing for 148 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 54 yards on nine carries. Gordon had a touchdown pass to Jonathan Kloosterman with 4:42 left in the game. The Rams are off next week, before playing at Central on Nov. 2.
