The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned its first-ever Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory Tuesday evening with a 3-0 shutout over Randolph-Macon.
The triumph snaps a 10-match winless streak for the Hornets (3-11-2, 1-7-1 ODAC). Shenandoah had been 0-8-2 since defeating Marymount 3-0 on Sept. 8.
SU exceeds last season's win total with the victory over the Yellow Jackets (2-10-3, 2-6-1).
Just 48 seconds into the second half, freshman Eduardo Santiago tallied the first goal, finishing off a cross Emilio Altamirano right in front of the Macon net.
Altamirano figured in the insurance goal as well, using a perfect toe flick to Jared Krampetz, who ripped his 15-yard shot into the right panel in the 87th minute.
With the result now virtually assured, senior John Peterman tallied unassisted in the 89th minute to provide the final margin of victory.
R-MC did outshoot the Hornets, 17-16, and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Shenandoah keeper James Dutcher made six saves to post his second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season.
SU wraps up its regular season with ODAC games at Randolph on Saturday and Bridgewater next Wednesday.
