Thorne named ODAC Player of the Week

Eastern Mennonite University senior and Skyline graduate Andrew Thorne averaged a double-double last week on the basketball court, and was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Thorne scored 25 points in each of EMU's wins and averaged 10 rebounds in helping the Runnin Royals start the year 4-0.
Against Frostburg State, Thorne made 12 trips to the free-throw line to aid in his scoring, while ripping down a career-high 12 rebounds. In Sunday's win over Marymount, he made 11-of-14 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. The 25-point games were each one tally off his career high of 26.
For the week, Thorne averaged 25.0 points (on 64 percent shooting) and 10.0 rebounds, adding 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He currently leads the ODAC in rebounding (9.0) and offensive rebounds (20), and is fourth with 19.0 points per game.
Eastern Mennonite hits the road this week for their ODAC opener, playing at Guilford on Wednesday. Game time is at 7:30 p.m., following a matchup of the women's teams.
