Central picked up its first Bull Run District win of the season with a 55-41 girls basketball victory over Manassas Park.
Katelyn Poston led the Falcons (6-3, 1-3 Bull Run) with 23 points and five steals, and Allison Bright had 11 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one block. Meredith Phillips had 11 points, and Sydney Plum had two points and three assists for the Falcons.
Central girls basketball coach Mallory Skarupa said she was happy to get a win, but the team still needs to work on their passing and playing consistently for 32 minutes.
"We have flashes where we do great things," Skarupa said. "We've had three girls in double figures for the last few games, and we need to have that all the time. If we can play with tenacity for 32 minutes, I think we'll be tough to beat. That's our goal."
George Mason 46, Strasburg 24
Strasburg could only manage two points in the second quarter en route to a 46-24 loss to George Mason at home in a Bull Run District game.
Kasey Fauber led the Rams (2-7, 2-2 Bull Run) with eight points. Katie Dofermire had 10 rebounds for Strasburg. The Mustangs outscored the Rams 13-2 in the second quarter and led 29-11 at the half. Stephanie Cheney led the Mustangs with 27 points.
"The kids played well," Strasburg coach Joel Morgan said. "We competed hard. We were getting good looks. Cheney, she's just hard to handle."
