Shenandoah University assistant football coach Joe Jacoby has been announced as a semifinalist for the NFL Hall of Fame in a list released recently by the league.

Jacoby starred from 1981 to 1993 with the Washington Redskins as an original member of the famed "Hogs" offensive line. He earned four consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl from 1983 through 1986 and helped the Redskins to Super Bowl championships in 1983, 1988 and 1992.
In his career, Jacoby played in 170 games, scored one touchdown and was named to the NFL's All-Decade team for the 1980s in addition to earning those four Pro Bowl selections.
Jacoby previously has been selected for the Hall of Fame at his alma mater, the University of Louisville, and by the Kentucky chapter of the NFL Retired Players Association.
The NFL will announce its 2013 Hall of Fame class in early February.
