MANASSAS PARK - Central used a fast start to pick up a 58-45 Bull Run District girls basketball victory over Manassas Park on Thursday.
The Falcons (10-6, 5-5 Bull Run) jumped out to an 18-10 lead after one quarter and held a 37-18 lead at halftime. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Central.
"That was one that we needed," Falcons coach Mallory Skarupa said. "We came out great, especially in the first half. I'm very happy with our effort, very happy to get the win."
Junior Katelyn Poston recorded a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead Central in both categories. Freshman Brooklyn Pumphrey grabbed 11 rebounds, and junior Mary Wakeman added eight points and four steals for the Falcons.
Manassas Park (3-14, 3-8) had three players in double-digit scoring, with Tianna Woodson (15 points), Paige Rivers (12 points) and Jalinne Gorinflo (11 points) leading the way.
