STRASBURG - Host Strasburg fell into an early hole and couldn't recover in a 50-28 Bull Run District girls basketball loss to Clarke County on Thursday.
Clarke County outscored the Rams 17-4 in the first period while taking advantage of 28 Strasburg turnovers in the game.
"They kind of jumped on us there in the first quarter," Rams coach Joel Morgan said. "We came out playing a little passive."
Sophomore Emily Melnikoff led Strasburg with 10 points, while freshman Rachel Funkhouser added nine points for the Rams.
Clarke County had three players combine for 44 of its 50 points, with Sydney Chrane (17 points), Anna Blue Catlett (15 points) and Samantha Smith (12 points) leading the offensive charge.
