Prep roundup: Warriors' Reed gets 200th coaching win

Sherando High School girls basketball coach Kevin Reed earned his 200th career victory as the Warriors topped host Liberty, 61-32, in non-district action on Friday night.

Heidi Brown and Lauren Reed tallied 15 points apiece for Sherando. Brown also had a team-high six rebounds.

Also for Sherando, Erin Magalis scored 12 points and Dani Rizzari chipped in 11 points and a team-best eight steals.

Buffalo Gap 43, Stonewall Jackson 38

Visiting Stonewall Jackson got a pair of double-doubles from Michaela Koontz and Erin Goodier, but it still wasn't enough against Shenandoah District rival Buffalo Gap on Friday night.

Koontz tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds, along with six assists and five steals. Goodier had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Stonewall (4-12, 2-7 Shenandoah).

Abby Erskine scored 16 points to lead Buffalo Gap (3-14, 1-8 Shenandoah).

Boys basketball

Strasburg 85, Rappahannock County 36

Jonathan Kloosterman scored 16 points to lead host Strasburg in a rout of Bull Run District rival Rappahannock County on Friday.

Kloosterman, who also had seven rebounds, was one of 11 players to score for Strasburg (14-2, 7-2 Bull Run).

Ryan Smoot added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tommy Caison had 12 points and a team-high seven assists. Arkell Goring also reached double digits in scoring with 11 points.

For Rappahannock County (1-10, 0-9), Bradlee Frye finished with 15 points.

Madison County 80, Central 79, OT

Bobby Ford poured in a co-game-high 28 points to lead visiting Madison County to an 80-79 overtime win over Central in Bull Run District action on Friday in Woodstock.

Ford had four 3-pointers among his 11 field goals for Madison County (5-12, 3-6 Bull Run). Matt Temple added 22 points, James Graves chipped in 11 and Dustin Farmer scored 10 for the Mountaineers.

Central's Travis Cooper matched Ford with 28 points in the losing effort.

Hayden Bauserman added 21 points for the Falcons, who dropped to 4-9 overall and 2-7 in the district.
