Prep roundup: Dingman finishes seventh in state swim meet

CHRISTIANSBURG -- Sherando's Kelsey Dingman placed seventh in the girls 50 freestyle event at the Group AA and A state swim meets on Saturday in Christiansburg.

Dingman finished in a time of 24:96. She also placed 14th (55.84) in the 100 freestyle. Sherando finished 26th in the meet, which was won by Western Albemarle. Sherando was 15th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:45.00). Sherando's Christina Lee was 21rst in the 100 butterfly (1:03.29). Central's Bethany Neri was 29th in the 100 freestyle (1:02.26) and 33rd in the 200 freestyle (2:22.95). Central's Dani Barr placed 24th in the 200 IM (2:32.26). Stonewall Jackson's Olivia Schutz was 41rst in the 100 butterfly (1:10.60) and 34th in the 500 freestyle (6:14.93).

In the boys meet, won by Hidden Valley, Central's Trevor Wolf placed 27th in the 200 freestyle (2:06.05) and 30th in the 100 freestyle (53.60). Central's Jonathan Feaster was 33rd in the 200 freestyle (2:20.65) and 30th in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.36). Central's Travis Hamilton placed 37th in the 50 freestyle (24:05) and teammate Jacob Lineberry was 33rd in the 100 freestyle (55.61). Central placed 26th in the 200 medley relay (1:53.99), 25th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.99)and 22nd in the 400 freestyle (3:42.93). Strasburg's Josh Stickles was 24th in the 500 freestyle (5:24.21) and 29th in the 100 backstroke (1:01.36).

VIS state swim meet
RICHMOND -- Randolph-Macon Academy's Tanner Blankenship finished ninth in the 100 butterfly to lead the Yellow Jackets in the Virginia Independent Schools state swim meet on Saturday in Richmond.
The Yellow Jackets finished 24th in the meet, won by Fork Union. Blankenship had a time of 54.24 in the 100 butterfly. He also placed 17th in the 200 IM (2:05.98). R-MA's Cheng Qian was 31rst in the 50 freestyle (23.42) and 26th in the 100 backstroke (58.40). R-MA finished 25th in the 200 medley relay (1:54.44) and 17th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:39.20).
