SU roundup: Shenandoah's men's basketball season comes to an end
Daily Staff Reports - sports@nvdaily.com The fifth-seeded Lynchburg College men's basketball team hit 14 three-pointers and cruised to a 90-65 victory Tuesday evening over 12th-seeded Shenandoah University in the first round of the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship Tournament. The loss ends Shenandoah's season. LC now will face No. 4 Randolph College in an ODAC Quarterfinal contest Friday at 3 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center. Lynchburg started out the first half strong, opening a quick 12-point lead in the first five minutes. LC extended the advantage to 26 (46-20) and led 54-31 at intermission. The LC Hornets shot 61 percent from behind the three-point arc in the first 20 minutes (11-18). Junior Manny Hernandez scored a game-high 19 points, hitting 7-of-12 shots and three three-pointers for Lynchburg. Shenandoah (3-23) was paced by 13 points and six rebounds from Shaquille Rodney.
