SU roundup: Chittenden garners all-ODAC honors
Daily Staff Reports - firstname.lastname@example.org
SALEM -- Sophomore Holly Chittenden has been named third team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference in selections announced Wednesday evening as part of the ODAC tournament banquet.
Chittenden, who was named ODAC Player of the Week on New Year's Eve, is currently 12th in the league in scoring and fourth in rebounding at 10.7 ppg and 8.4 rpg, respectively.
She leads the Hornets with eight double-doubles this winter, including a 17-point, 10-rebound performance in the squad's 69-64 victory over Hollins on Monday night in the opening round of the ODAC tournament.
That win advanced SU into the tournament quarterfinals, where coach C.K. Calhoun's team will meet third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan Thursday at 8 p.m.
In addition to being named ODAC Player of the Week, Chittenden earned a spot on the Dickinson All-Tournament team in November and was a three-time USA South Conference Rookie of the Week honoree last season.
WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah volleyball coach Jaime Terenzi announced her 2013 schedule Wednesday morning.
Terenzi, who needs just one win to hit the half-century mark in her SU career, will have 10 home dates next fall.
In addition to hosting Roanoke, Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon, Washington and Lee, Randolph College and Lynchburg in ODAC action, SU will also welcome five different non-league opponents to Shingleton Gymnasium.
Penn State-Altoona is the first non-league opponent to visit -- the Lions are the home opener on Sept. 4.
That non-league match comes four days after the season opening tournament at Gettysburg over Labor Day Weekend.
The annual Dig Pink event is Oct. 16 versus Randolph, while Senior Night is Oct. 23 versus Lynchburg.
"I think we have a good mix of opponents on the schedule," Terenzi said in a news release. "We have one home quad match (Sept. 7) and one home tri-match (Sept. 14), so our fans will have a number of opportunities to watch some great volleyball."
