JMU roundup: Swimming and diving's Won selected for NCAA championships

Daily staff report

HARRISONBURG -- James Madison sophomore swimmer Sin Hye Won (Springfield/West Springfield) was recently chosen to participate in the NCAA swimming and diving championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Won qualified in the 100-yard breaststroke and is listed as an optional entry in the 200-yard breaststroke. Won turned in NCAA "B" cut times in both events at last week's Colonial Athletic Association Championships. At the event, Won set a new school record in the 100, finishing in 1:00.29 in her second-place finish. She also set a career record with a time 2:13.60 in the 200.

Won is the second member of the JMU swimming and diving team to ever reach the NCAA championships, joining senior Kimberly Helfrich, who qualified in 2011 as a sophomore.

The 2013 swimming and diving championships take place at the IU Natatorium and the IUPUI Sports Complex on March 21-23.

HARRISONBURG -- James Madison's first CAA baseball series of the year against Hofstra has been pushed back from Friday to Saturday.

The Dukes will play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday and finish the weekend series with a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday.

JMU is 6-6 after a four-game sweep of Hartford last week, while Hofstra is 3-8 after losing two of three games at Western Carolina.
