STRASBURG -- Strasburg picked up its first win of the young season with a 23-1 thumping of county rival Stonewall Jackson on Friday night in softball action.
The Rams (1-1) pounded out 24 hits in the five-inning contest while Strasburg pitchers Tori Conner and Carey Scott allowed just three hits to the Generals (0-2).
Freshman Lexi Schlag led the charge for the Rams' offense, as she went 4 for 4 with a pair of homeruns and three RBIs. Sophomore Ashtyn Foddrell was 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs for Strasburg.
Generals sophomore Kylie Biller was 3 for 3 to lead Stonewall Jackson.
Clarke County 6, Warren County 2
BERRYVILLE -- Kelsea Potts had two goals, but it wasn't enough for the Wildcats in a nondistrict loss to the Eagles.
Clarke County led 3-0 at the half, before the Wildcats' offense came to life. Warren County had 12 of its 17 shots in the second half. Courtney L'Amoreaux had an assist for the Wildcats (0-1). Melissa Leonard and Abbey O'Mara combined for 11 saves for the Wildcats. Each team had 17 shots.
The National Association of Christian Athletes has named SVCA's Amanda Barlow to the NACA girls Basketball All-American team. Barlow led the Patriots to a second-place finish at the NACA tournament and was picked as tournament MVP.
