STRASBURG -- Freshman Lexi Schlag drove in eight runs to help Strasburg's softball team to a 14-1 victory over Stonewall Jackson on Wednesday.
The Rams played as visitors on their home field after the game was shifted from Stonewall due to field conditions.
Strasburg (2-1) led 4-1 entering the top of the fourth before breaking the game open with a 10-run outburst. Schlag's bases-clearing triple was the big blow, and she came around to score on an error to cap a four-run rally.
Dani Swafford added a 2-for-3 effort with a home run and a double. She drove in two runs. Jordi Kump was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, while Nikki Killen and Tori Conner each chipped in a triple for the Rams. Strasburg totaled 14 hits.
All that offense was plenty for Strasburg starting pitcher Carey Scott, who pitched three innings to earn the win. She allowed just one hit, one walk and hit a batter while striking out four. Conner pitched the final two innings, fanning four while not allowing a hit.
