Daily Staff Report - firstname.lastname@example.org
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - The Shenandoah University men's golf team opened its participation at the 42nd Annual Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Golf Championships by shooting a collective 297 Friday afternoon.
Playing the par-70, 6,110-yard Scarlet course, Shenandoah posted four scores in the 70s for the first time this spring.
The 297 is also the best score of the year for the Hornets.
Junior Zach Ramey and sophomore Wes Licklider led the way for SU by each posting a two-over-par 72. John Judy had a 75 with Seth Crean carding a 78 to round out the squad's qualifying scores.
Cory Hammons had a 12-over 82 that did not count toward the team total.
The Hornets will play the par-72 Gold course Saturday with the tournament field split following the day's play. SU will play either the Scarlet or Gold course on Sunday in the final round depending upon its collective finish from the opening two rounds.
